Project Hope FAQs

What is Project HOPE?

Project HOPE (Hearts in One Pace for Excellence) is a grand fund raising campaign launched by the incumbent board members and officers of the Sigma Delta Phi Alumnae Association (SDPAA).

Why do we need Project HOPE?

We need Project HOPE because:

  • SDPAA must address its immediate concerns:
    • the need to rekindle member interest because financial constraints have limited our capability to sustain regular meetings and fellowships, outreach projects and activities
    • the need to enhance sisterhood bonds because our membership has grown to more than 2,000 residing in various parts of the world
    • the need to fortify our alumnae association and resident organization because of sluggish participation among the alumnae and diminishing membership among the residents
  • Sigma Delta Phi Sorority has dwindling membership due to:
    • the marginalized relevance of Greek-letter societies within the present UP campus culture and environment
    • the impact of Republic Act No. 8049, known as the Anti-Hazing Law o the prevailing youth culture which emphasizes individualism and diversified interests and minimizes the need to join organizations
    • the effects of information technology where socialization and friendships can be formed without the need for physical presence
  • SDPAA requires financial stability for continuity and sustainability. Its depleting resources were impacted by:
    • the 1998 Asian financial crisis
    • the on-going Philippine economic downturn
    • the absence of a large-scale fund drive over the last 10 years!

What is the projected revenue of Project HOPE?

The amount of at least P3 Million (US$60,000) will go a long way to support programs and projects with long-term value for our alumnae and resident sisters.

How will Project HOPE funds address the SDPAA and sorority needs?

Project Hope funds will enable the SDPAA and the resident organization to:

  • Implement group dynamics-based organizational structure through:
    • committee work revival
    • institutionalized programs and activities
    • membership participatory activities
    • outreach projects
  • Enhance inter-active membership communication through:
    • group email and sorority website
    • member directory/roster updates
    • newsletter revival
  • Adopt pro-active activities with long term value such as:
    • socio-civic development projects relevant to the times
    • membership development programs
    • SDPAA and sorority PR/promotions-oriented activities
  • Strengthen financial capabilities, because funding is vital to sustain the SDPAA and sorority’s operations and projects of impact

What will benefit from the Project HOPE funds?

All contributions to Project HOPE will fund the following projects:

  • Website, Group Email and Directory of Members Update – for enhanced and interactive communications
  • Sigma Delta First – a re-packaged and institutionalized outreach project exclusive for Sigma Deltans in need, ranging from counseling to livelihood aid and other forms of assistance for self-reliance and dignity uplift
  • Endowment Fund for Resident Sisters – a special trust fund for Diliman and Los Baños sorority residents for the rental of an in-campus office to efficiently mobilize sorority activities and projects and serve as depository of sorority memorabilia.
  • Sigma Delta Coffee Table Book – a compendium of sorority and SDPAA milestones, activities and roster of achievers, co-authored by Sigma Deltans to showcase Sigma Delta Phi and serve as a legacy to future Sigma Deltans. Funds from book sales will help sustain SDPAA and its future operations.

Why should I contribute to Project HOPE?

The SDPAA board members and officers are optimistic that we will meet, if not exceed, our Project HOPE target revenue goal of at least P3 Million:

  • because we are proud to be members of the Sigma Delta Phi Sorority
  • because we cherish the Sigma Delta Phi sisterhood and traditions
  • because we are generous and greatly involved with socio-civic work and philanthropic endeavors
  • because we have laudable projects with long term, meaningful goals, and well defined paradigms beneficial to all the members and resident sisters
  • because we are successful in our chosen fields and belong to the more privileged circles of our community
  • because we love, respect and honor the Sigma Delta Phi Sorority and what it stands for
  • because as Sigma Deltans, we will support and place our Hearts in One Pace for Excellence!
